At this time we offer only PCLinuxOS systems, mainly because we wish to help support and further the development of this Linux Distribution. In our opinion it is the best Linux desktop operation system available today. We feel PCLinuxOS is leading the way for Linux desktop operation systems. After 15+ years of building, maintaining and troubleshooting all types of PC systems, LANS, WANS and Servers we feel PCLinuxOS is ready for complete adoption into the home, small business and enterprise desktop areana. There are several reasons that lead us to this belief... First is the fact that PCLinuxOS is completely free, thats right completely free. Get PCLinucOS here. Most Linux distributions offer a free version for download. We strongly suggest you donate to the developement of whichever Linux you decide to use, if at all possible. The fact that Linux is free is also part of the reason that it has been slow to become mainstream. If a distribution is free that leaves little left in the budget for marketing and advertisement. That in turn leaves Linux to spread by word of mouth. Turns out this is the best form of advertisement but it is also the slowest. The second reason is because it is released under the GPL(read more here GNU General Public License). In simple terms this means that the development is open to any developer that wishes to contribute. Under this license the development tends to be much better and quicker. Imagine having developers from around the world working on a project, not because they are paid but because they have a love or a need for the application. Another reason is because Linux is virus free. This means Linux is not affected by any Windows virus. Antivirus software is not needed, this frees system resources to complete other task. Many Windows zealots claim that there are no Linux viruses because Linux use is not widespread. This assumption is not valid because Linux is inherently more secure due to the limited use of root access and limited user privileges. Also Linux is not affected by most of the know Adware, Malware, Spyware and Trojans. These malicious programs are not generally detected by Antivirus applications. This means that another application is needed to protect a Windows system further degrading system resources. This in turn keeps the Linux system free from most spam that plagues Windows email users. Linux is also a much more efficient operating system. This allows Linux to take better advantage of the available system resources. In general terms Linux will run faster when run on the same system hardware as Windows. Linux tends to be on the cutting edge of technology, bugs are addressed much quicker than in the windows environment. You can report bug yourself which in turn leads to even quicker fixes or patches.
